Years ago, I was asked, “What is your favorite thing to do?”
Intuitively I responded, “Something I have never done before.”
Astonished, the questioner queried, “You would rather do something you have never done before—and hate it—than something you know you love?”
I realized that this was true, especially when applied to art. Art is what I would rather do than (almost) anything.
That need for newness allows me to experiment in any modality I can find, even trapeze.
